Team History
On this page you can read about the previous cars and victories that the team has had in its 19 years of racing. Hopefully this page will contain some photos in the near future.

Top Banana hasn't always been with 3 car previous to the Top Banana Car raced now. As many race fans will know the team were called 'Can Do' until Top Banana came along. On this page read about the teams previous cars and success.

The first ever race car which Brian brought was a 1970 Ford Mustang as a right off. The car was raced for three years and in the second year it won the N.D.R.C street class outright in 1982. The Mustang had a 302 ci V8 with Holley 600 headers, Aly in Manifold-Slicks-LTD slip diff. The best E.T for the Mustang was 14.35 in 1983 and we came runner to Richard Fulton.

In 1984 we decided to sell the Mustang and build a new car with the knowledge gained from the Mustang. The second car was a 70's Toyota Corolla S.R coupe with 302 V8-C6 Trick auto-8 Inch Axle-Slicks. This car had a rear chassis clip designed by John Mulligan who rewired the Top Banana car for the upcoming season. It took a couple of years to sort out but after that we won a few races at York-Pod-Park. But defiantly the best year for the car was 1988, racing at all 3 tracks we entered every race possible and out of 18 races we won 14 of them, on top of this we won the Street racers championship at York to win £1000 prize money, which was on Brian's birthday which made it even better. The Best E.T for this car was 10.55.

In 1989 we brought from America a 1982 dodge challenger super gas car which was built and raced by John Mustakus. We fitted the car with a STD Big Block Ford 460, to run 12.43 E.T. We campaigned this car for a few years with a couple of wins and a handful of runner up spots. The best E.T from the super gas car was 9.55. When the super gassers turned to Gismos (Delay Box, Throttle Stops etc.) we decided to sell the car, it went back to America to be used as a street car.

When we has sold the super gas car we started to race the 1932 Ford Roadster built in 1989 by Lee and Phil O'Brian which was used as a road car until we started to race it. We put the Big Block Ford from the super gas car in fitting it with a C6 auto box manual shift with transbrake by Bob Lees, 4.11 axle gears-32 stage ignition. With this car we have conquered Germany and won all three championships in 99' with Brian and Lee in the hot seat of the car. To read more about the car click here....
